In 2022, Oodrive was facing technical and organizational challenges in managing its IT platforms. The company was dealing with growing infrastructure complexity, performance issues, and a need for modernization to keep meeting its strong requirements for security, sovereignty, and reliability.
In this context, Oodrive turned to Enix to unlock this complex situation and then drive a transformation toward cloud native.
On-premise infrastructure overhaul
We started with a complete overhaul of the existing on-premise infrastructure. This phase consisted of a full re-architecture of the platforms, including an update and optimization of the Proxmox environment, to improve stability, performance, and maintainability.
The PostgreSQL databases were also migrated to new, more powerful hardware, delivering a significant gain in response times and the reliability of Oodrive’s services.
Finally, a revamp of the network backbone based on hardware from our long-term partner Arista made network exchanges between the various platforms and the Internet more reliable, while also improving security.
Transition to cloud native
Once the existing infrastructure was stabilized, we supported Oodrive through a progressive transition to a cloud native architecture, combining hands-on support, DevOps tooling, and the industrialization of practices:
Custom Docker and Kubernetes training, to build containerization and orchestration knowledge within the internal teams
Containerization of business applications, with the creation and industrialization of Helm charts, and the deployment of a private Docker image registry based on Harbor
Creation of custom Kubernetes clusters, designed to meet strong requirements in terms of sovereignty (sovereign cloud) and security (SecNumCloud compliance)
Implementation of a complete GitOps chain, fully automated with Flux and GitLab CI, to manage the lifecycle of applications and infrastructure as code, with full traceability
Deployment of a dedicated observability and metrology platform, capable of measuring the quality of service (QoS) of applications for Oodrive’s end customers, enabling proactive incident analysis
Managed services and 24/7 Run
Since early 2023, Enix has been providing 24/7 Run for all of these environments:
- Proxmox, Kubernetes, and Harbor clusters
- GitOps deployment CI/CD chain
- Business observability platform
Our teams monitor, maintain, and intervene in real time to guarantee availability, performance, and security across the entire chain, allowing Oodrive to focus fully on its business priorities.
